Rebecca Peterniak presents on Vision Zero as part of expert panel at the Manitoba Planning Conference

Rebecca Peterniak of FNI presented on Vision Zero today at the Manitoba Planning Conference in Winnipeg. She joined Dr. Jeannette Montufar, P.Eng., PTEO, FITE, FCAE, Founding Partner & CEO of MORR Transportation Consulting, and Dr. Stasa Veroukis, MD, FRCPC, Pediatric Intensivist and Section Head of Pediatric Critical Care Medicine at the Children’s Hospital of Winnipeg to deliver the conference session entitled, 'On the Road to Safety: whether the roads that run through our communities are highways or neighbourhood streets, we’re all concerned about traffic safety'.

Dr. Jeannette Montufar set the stage for the session by providing an overview of the magnitude and characteristics of the road safety problem. Dr. Stasa Veroukis described the front-line experience of road trauma from the scene of the collision to the hospital. She also reviewed the impact of speed on injury severity. Rebecca Peterniak presented Vision Zero as a coordinated approach to applying best practices in road safety to maximize impact and return on investment. She discussed Vision Zero initiatives being employed by jurisdictions around the world.
